For our client in Oslo we are looking an experienced structural engineer
Job Summary:
As a Lead Structural Engineer, you will have a key role in EPC & EP projects as wells as in the base organisation. Your role will be to lead the detail engineering design within projects where the client delivers detailed design and engineering for offshore/onshore process modules to oil & gas and renewable energy industry. You will be the focal point for control, co-ordination and driving forward the Area related disciplines (e.g. Structural, Piping, Layout and aspects of Electrical and Instrumentation). The role is based in Fornebu, Oslo and works in close cooperation with other client offices and detail engineering companies (DEC’s) worldwide, and therefore is ideal for engineers with strong technical skills who are able to lead in a multicultural team. The role offers a unique opportunity to work across various engineering disciplines. This position reports to the Project Engineering Manager within projects and the Detailed Engineering Manager within the base organisation at Oslo.
Responsibilities:
Ensure the general area and layout design and engineering of process modules are carried out effectively and in compliance with contractual requirements, international standards, customer and client specifications.
Take ownership of overall design of process modules
Lead detail engineering contractors (DEC’s), coordinate all elements internally and externally to secure a smooth project delivery
Liaise with discipline leads and engineering manager to meet project schedule and quality requirements, participate in development of overall project schedule in early project phase
Monitor and manage cross-discipline activities to secure efficiency during entire execution and fabrication phase
Actively seek and propose improvements to internal procedures, working methods and tools
Continuously adhere to HSE both in projects and base organization
Support base organization, other projects and tenders if and when business requirements dictate so
Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
Bachelor or Master’s degree in structural engineering
Good understanding of module area and layout design, familiar with common activities and interfaces of engineering disciplines such as piping, process, E&I and mechanical in addition to structural discipline
Minimum 5 -10 years of experience in a similar position in delivery/execution projects of offshore process modules, offshore platforms, FPSO modules or similar
Experience of engineering management with multidisciplinary understanding
EPC project experience, commercial awareness, multidisciplinary understanding
Experience in contractor follow up in relation to area design, equipment and material handling design
Good understanding of cost drivers in offshore module design and fabrication
Fabrication / construction yard experience is a plus
Experience with implementing international standards and client specifications to meet project requirements
