Diesel Generator Field Service Technician
For our client we are looking for a diesel generator, field service technician, to work from the base in Norway. The ideal candidate will be a qualified diesel mechanic with diesel generator experience such as, routine services, diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults, engine running problems and overhauling the engines.
Key duties and responsibilities
Equipment
Site installations/de-installations
Routine service of plant at depots and on site
Control of spares support
Physical control of release and return of plant, including allocation of plant to meet contract requirements
Attending to breakdowns/repairs at depot and offsite
Administration
Complete service reports, time sheets and test sheets accurately and on time
Maintain QHSE and legally required documentation
Ensure tracking of equipment movements in and out of depot
Communication
Technical Client contact
Contact with Service Manager and all location personnel.
Contact with customers at all levels
Contact with equipment suppliers when necessary
Health and Safety
Ensure service vehicle service equipment and work area are maintained in safe and good order
Responsible for ensuring own health and safety
Maintain the yard and workshop in a neat and tidy state in accordance with 5S procedures
Ensure all yard/workshop equipment in safe/good working order
Ensure safety of self and others at all times
Be vigilant in reporting QHSE concerns
General
Standby duties at site
Be on “call” out of hours as and when required
Participate and contribute to OE program
Education/Qualifications
Good basic technical education in a relevant field
Demonstrate technical competence, in line with the local competence/training matrix
Good verbal and written English language skills
Good IT literacy including use of word-processing, spreadsheets, databases and e-mail
Driving licence (car)
Professional skills and experience
Mechanical or electrical served apprenticeship
Alternatively, a qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering
Sufficient hands-on diesel engine/generator experience
Experience with Cummins and Scania diesel engines are preferred
Experience with Cummins (insight) and Scania diagnostic systems are preferred

Ability to communicate clearly with both colleagues and customers
Logical fault finding
Ability to work under a low level of supervision
Ability to work under own initiative
Tidy and clean appearance
